I've been writing for as long as I can remember. As a child, I wrote mostly fiction, really getting my start as a writer when I discovered Neopets and their online newspaper, The Neopian Times. I will never tell you my username as it is likely one of the most embarrassing things in the world, but do know that my stories were published a dozen times when I was a preteen.
I wrote my first poem when I was about seven, but I really started to gravitate towards the form in high school. Eventually, it led me to decide to study writing in college.
For my undergraduate degree, I attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, where I doubled majored in creative writing and professional writing. I graduated with College and University Honors after completing my senior thesis, a collection of poems entitled Pretty Sad Girl.
After graduation, I moved back to Bayonne. I got a job as an Assistant Digital Content Editor for Haymarket Media in Manhattan. After just under a year in that position, I was promoted to Associate Digital Content Editor for The Clinical Advisor, a publication geared towards nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
In August 2016, I left Haymarket to pursue my MFA in creative writing at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. I graduated in May 2019 after completing my creative thesis, a collection of poems.
Outside of writing, I love makeup, strange earrings, animals, food, video games, and pop-punk music reminiscent of my high school years. I own several hundred bottles of nail polish and a similar amount of lipsticks. I only buy pens that come in at least six different colors, and I have more empty notebooks than I truly need.
